The office of the Deputy Principal Academics is in charge of Academics affairs in Kipsinende Technical College. The institution has grown and now has five departments namely; Automotive engineering and Agriculture, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Building and Civil Engineering, ICT and Library studies, and Business and Liberal studies. There are over twenty-five approved courses in Kipsinende Technical and Vocational college. Further expansion of the college has been undertaken by integrating with Persons with Disabilities (PWDS) and also the process of introducing NITA courses are in advanced state.
My office collaborates closely with the Registrar who oversee the increased enrolment by making sure that there is aggressive marketing and proper student records are kept safely, Quality Assurance officer oversee that quality standards in terms of training are attained, Academic HODs ensure that effective training is undertaken in their respective departments using appropriate tools or teaching documents and Trainers implement curriculum. Support staff, trainees and other stakeholders also supplement and promote curriculum indirectly.
Deputy Principal Academics’ oversees implantation of curriculum with strict adherence of academic policy procedures. We consult and bench mark in exemplary institution to ensure that only the best practices are applied in day to day running of our academic affairs. The policy ensure harmony in academic operations leading to excellent trainees’ performance in our institution.
Research and Innovation are among the duties of the office of Deputy Principal Academics. My office coordinates the Research and Innovation activities in close collaboration with the five Academic departments. The Research and Innovation transform our trainees and mentor them to apply technology by developing innovations responsive to societal needs.
The college is working towards shifting from Knowledge based programs to Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) beginning with Motor cycle mechanics. The office of Deputy Principal Academics is at forefront in nurturing partnerships with Kenya Education for Employment Program (KEFEP), industry and TVET Curriculum Development Accreditation and Certification (CDACC) towards development of skill based and industrial relevant Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) courses.
The college has a state of the of art modern upgraded facilities and equipment that were supplied by Chinese Government courtesy of Kenyan Government through the Ministry of Education, State Department of Vocational and Technical Training; in a bid to live to its dream of being a Centre of Excellence in Automotive Engineering,the college looks forward towards utilization of equipment by offering programs revolving around utilization of the machines and equipment.
My office wish to encourage the trainers, support staff and trainees to cultivate a good academic culture that would lead to academic excellence. To this end my office has adopted teamwork among trainees aimed at attaining sustainable academic performance and uphold academic integrity. Motivation of trainees, support staff and trainers is my office strong point towards establishment of a fertile ground for academic excellence to thrive.
I strongly acknowledge the role played by the industry and other stakeholders that contribute immensely towards meeting our objectives. New standards of industrial attachment and internship contribute positively towards Vision 2030. The office of Deputy Principal encourages trainees to prioritize attachments as one of the key requirements to make them adaptive and employable in the industry. We appreciate the role played by individuals, corporate and government agencies towards funding, sponsorship and trainees / programs support.
